Remembering mom. Sarah Silverman took to Twitter on Monday, Aug. 24, to memorialize her mother, Beth Ann O’Hara, who passed away at age 73 on Wednesday, Aug. 19. A cause of death was not announced.
The comedienne posted a smiling photo of her mother along with a sweet and funny message honoring her memory.
“She was a know-it-all in overalls & two different colored socks. And defiantly, no bra,” Silverman, 44, wrote. “The woman who, when I was little, gave me detailed directions to a restaurant ladies room and then secretly watched as I found my way to it on my own.”

The Masters of Sex star went on to note some of her favorite stories about her mom, writing, “The woman who went back to college at 42, and skinny dipped in ponds, and told me never to protect myself from a broken heart because it was so very worth the pain to get to experience love.”
Silverman is the youngest of five siblings born to O’Hara and her dad, Donald Silverman. O’Hara was a photographer and worked in theater. She directed and produced 50 plays.
