Sarah Silverman Slams Engagement Rumors; Vows Never to Marry

Sarah Silverman and Michael Sheen
Sarah Silverman spoke out against rumors that she's engaged to her boyfriend Michael Sheen.

Sarah Silverman is not trying to score an engagement ring from boyfriend Michael Sheen, thank you very much.

After tabloid Star magazine published an article with the headline, "Sarah Wants a Ring," suggesting the comedian was making a play for a big ole diamond from her Masters of Sex beau, she took to Twitter to slam the erroneous report and declared herself anti-marriage. She then took things future by suggesting that the story was bigoted.

"Just read that I wanna get married which is hilarious b/c I will never get married," the 43-year-old funny gal, who has been a public supporter of gay marriage, wrote on Sunday night. "Why would I want the govt involved in my love life? Ew. It's barbaric."

Taking the tab to task she ended with, "That s–t never bothers me b/c who cares but I feel like this one is bigoted. The Jew girl MUST want a RING! Yich."

Silverman and Sheen, 45, were first linked in February and have made several red carpet appearances together, including at the Met Gala in May and HBO's Emmy Awards afterparty in August. When the actress, who had a guest arc on the Welsh actor's Showtime series, picked up her Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special earlier that night, among the highlights during her unforgettable barefoot acceptance speech was when she referred to her "love" as "Mr. Fancypants Sheen."

While Silverman may not want to get married — Sheen famously dated actress Kate Beckinsale, with whom he has a daughter, from 1995 to 2003 and never wanted to tie the knot — she didn't mind bragging about her new boyfriend to her old boyfriend during a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this month.

"He's the best at what he does, he's so good," she said in a series of jokes at Kimmel's expense. "I really am so happy to have him be a part of my life and to get to be a part of his life. And I realized, like, I don't think I ever really knew what love was. I don't think I've ever really been in love before, I realized, you know what I mean?"

So, she's very happy with her new romance, but has no desire for Sheen to put a ring on it. Now or ever.
