Traitor! Fans of the ever so addicting drama Scandal have, for the most part, chosen sides between Tony Goldwyn’s President Fitzgerald Grant and Scott Foley’s Jake Ballard. But as it turns out, not even Foley comes out on top under his own roof. The actor recently shared with Us Weekly that his wife Marika Dominczyk is a fan of the dashing Commander in Chief.
“My wife has a Team Fitz phone cover,” the Felicity alum, 42, revealed. “If she wants the bills paid, she’d better be Team Jake!”
Foley’s character has been “standing in the sun” with Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) since 2013. In the show’s most recent episode (it returns on Thursday, Jan. 29), Ballard is left blindsided when Pope is kidnapped from her apartment mid-dance party.
Foley, who just welcomed his third child with Dominczyk in November, talked about Ballard and Pope’s sexy, yet complicated relationship to Vulture in October 2013.
“I think he and Olivia had something right off the bat, something that maybe Olivia and Fitz didn’t necessarily have. There’s a chemistry they had from the get-go that is hard for Olivia to deny,” he said. “If she could deny it, she wouldn’t be making out with Jake. Jake wouldn’t even be in the picture.”
And despite Dominczyk’s phone case choice, she and Foley do hope that Ballard sticks around for a while. “My wife, my kids, my business manager, my agents, my publicist, all these f–kers,” he joked. “We all believe in Jake.”
