Scotty McCreery Opens Up About Scary Robbery: "I Was Staring Down the Barrel of a Pistol"
An incident he soon won't forget. Scotty McCreery has opened up about the scary home invasion he experienced earlier this month. On May 5, the American Idol season 10 winner and his roommates were robbed at their apartment complex near North Carolina State University's campus in Raleigh.
"We had gone out—it was like 1:30 in the morning—we were watching Gladiator on TV. And all of a sudden we heard a knock and they just barged on in," McCreery, 20, recalled during an interview with On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Friday, May 16.
"[They] knocked first—we didn't recognize them [so] we didn't open it. And the second guy, [my friend] thought it was a neighbor. And it was only one person—no mask, no gun, no glove, didn't look suspicious," he continued. "As soon as they opened the door, then four people barged in guns a blazing."
"I thought whatever you want you take it," the North Carolina State student added. "I was on the ground, and he was holding the gun to our heads. I was staring down the barrel of a pistol."
As previously reported, Raleigh Police officers were called to McCreery's apartment and no one was hurt during the break-in. The three armed gunmen did manage to steal items from the residents, however, including their wallets, electronics, and cash.
"If I had gone on 80 years and never had to deal with that, I would have been fine," McCreery told Seacrest.
