Sean Lowe Defends Wife Catherine Giudici After Controversial Pregnancy Prank

Sean Lowe Defends Wife Catherine Giudici
Bachelor Sean Lowe explained in a lengthy blog post why his wife Catherine Giudici pulled her pregnancy prank on April Fools' Day, defending her as the "most caring and compassionate" person.

A husband's defense. Bachelor Sean Lowe defended his wife Catherine Giudici in a lengthy blog post on Thursday, April 2, explaining why she pulled her controversial pregnancy prank on April Fools' Day.

"Social media," Lowe, 31, wrote. "Is it a great way to connect with others or was it created by Satan himself? This is a question I often ask myself."

The season 17 Bachelor then brought up his wife's offending post, in which she joked she was pregnant. "My sweet wife posted what we both thought would be a funny April Fools prank on Instagram," he wrote. "Most people knew immediately that it was a joke of course and that she wasn’t really pregnant."

However, Giudici, 28, found herself in scorching hot water after many followers found the update "offensive" and "insensitive" to those struggling with fertility issues. Lowe maintained in his blog post that his wife had good intentions and even explained why she posted it in the first place.

"On nearly every picture Catherine posts on Instagram, she gets flooded with comments from people who tell her she looks pregnant," he said of his petite wife. "We understand that many of these people have no ill intent and are genuinely just hoping that we’re pregnant because they want to see us start our family, and we totally get that. But at the same time, it would be really tough for any woman to hear that 'she looks pregnant' on a daily basis when she’s not… So that was the genesis of yesterday’s post, it was playing off of the bombardment of pregnancy comments she reads every day and messing with those who post them."

Lowe further defended Catherine's genuine intentions, saying she was a victim herself, after receiving "really nasty" messages from critics.

"I understand there are a lot of people hurting out there who are struggling with fertility and they are left with feelings of worry, frustration, and anger. I get that," he noted. "But my wife’s Instagram is not the place to voice those feelings. The ironic part is that Catherine has a huge heart for women who are struggling with fertility. In fact, she was brought to tears just this past Saturday after a friend of ours told us she lost her child in the womb."

He concluded his post by describing his wife as "one of the most caring, compassionate people you will ever meet." Lowe noted: "If you are one of those who are struggling with fertility, I promise Catherine’s heart breaks for you."

Giudici, herself, cleared the air in a separate Instagram post on Wednesday. "About my earlier post, it was intended to be lighthearted and fun and certainly not insensitive," she wrote. "My heart goes out to all the women struggling with fertility."
