She loves rock 'n roll!

Earlier this year, in between shooting Twilight sequels New Moon and Eclipse, Kristen Stewart slapped on a red leather jumpsuit to portray rocker Joan Jett for the rock biopic The Runaways.  (Check out the just-released trailer for the film, above.)

Stewart plays Jett as she was in the mid- to late-70s: a teenager fronting the all-girl rock band The Runaways. Jett, now 51, consulted with Stewart and her costars on the film, and hung out with Stewart and rumored love Robert Pattinson at Manhattan club Avenue in November.

"I've never played a real person before," Stewart, 19, has said of the role. "I'm excited about the music."

Joining in the fun as fellow "Runaway" Cherie Currie: New Moon costar Dakota Fanning. "It's intense," Stewart added of acting with former child star, now 15, in the gritty rocker-girl role. "I'm going to cinematically deflower Dakota Fanning."
