Selena Gomez Performs Dancing Duet With 7-Year-Old Viral Star Battling Rare Disease

She’s got the moves! Selena Gomez worked it alongside 7-year-old fan Audrey Nethery before her show in Louisville, Kentucky, on Wednesday, June 22 — but Nethery quickly stole the spotlight.

The adorable fan, who suffers from Diamond Blackfan anemia (DBA), looked like she didn’t have a care in the world as she and Gomez, 23, sang and bopped along to the singer’s 2011 hit “Love You Like a Love Song.”

“Finally got to meet this sweetheart,” the “Hands to Myself” singer captioned the cute video, which she shared on Instagram. “She owned it fully.”

In the clip, Nethery waves her hands in the air in time to the beat as both she and Gomez sing along to the tune. At the end of the video, the pair share a big hug.

Diamond Blackfan anemia is a disorder that affects the bone marrow’s ability to produce new blood cells, and approximately 5 to 7 million infants worldwide suffer from its effects.

According to Nethery’s popular Instagram account, Gomez first reached out to her five months ago with a comment on one of her posts. (Nethery’s clip of herself singing a karaoke version of One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful” first put her on the map.)

“Audrey, you’re an amazing performer! Call me if you ever need a duet partner,” Gomez wrote, along with a smiley face.

“Thank you so much Selena Gomez!!! Audrey is so excited that you came to her page and left her such a wonderful comment!!!” someone, presumably Nethery’s mother Julie Haise, replied. “She would love to sing with you anytime!!!!”

The spunky gal is best known for her adorable Zumba videos, and previously made an appearance on Rachael Ray’s show Rachael in April.
