Shia LaBeouf and his bod are back — in the buff! The actor, who in July 2012 appeared nude for elongated periods of time in Sigur Rós' music video for Fjögur Píanó and in the explicit, soon-to-be released Lars Von Trier film, Nymphomaniac, goes a similar route in teasing his new RomCom-action movie, Charlie Countryman.
Early Sunday morning, the 27-year-old star shared a naked self-portrait with his 50,000 plus Twitter followers. In the startling photo, the actor is surrounded by milk crates and hunched against a wall lined with a world map. "tune in, turn on, drop out - #CharlieCountryman 11/15," he wrote.
The plot of Charlie Countryman involves a guy who falls for a girl who's "claimed" by a violent crime boss. The actor divulged that part of his preparation for the role involved taking LSD in order to gain insight on his character. "There's a way to do an acid trip like Harold & Kumar," said LaBeouf to USA Today in an Aug. 2012 interview. "And there's a way to be on acid," as he cited Sean Penn "actually strapped up to that chair" in Dead Man Walking as his inspiration. "Those are the guys that I look up to," he said.
The former Disney star said in an interview in Aug. 2012 that his graphic nudity and sex scenes in Von Trier's Nymphomaniac were "for real." He added, "Everything that is illegal, we'll shoot in blurred images. Other than that, everything is happening." LaBeouf later followed up that interview by adding, "I have ethics. I'm not completely out of my mind," he said of nudity in movies.
"But I don't think there's anything wrong with sex. Sex is beautiful if it's done right. And I wouldn't just do it for no reason."
