R.I.P., Shirley Temple. Hollywood is mourning the loss of the beloved child star. The Bright Eyes actress died Monday, Feb. 10 at the age of 85.
"We salute her for a life of remarkable achievements as an actor, as a diplomat, and most importantly as our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and adored wife for fifty-five years of the late and much missed Charles Alden Black," Temple's family said in a statement to the Associated Press. The curly-haired, dimpled darling broke out in Hollywood in 1934 at the age of 6. She retired from film in 1950, and dedicated her life to politics, holding several diplomatic posts.
