In a new interview with Larry King, Brittany Murphy's husband Simon Monjack and mother Sharon remember the late actress, who died last month at the age of 32.
Asked how he's been holding up Monjack tells King (the interview airs Wednesday), "I don't think I am. I don't think either of us are…"
"No," replies Sharon.
Monjack says every morning when he wakes up, "it's like a rebirth. It's — there's not enough time to — your dreams, be they good or bad, when you wake up and I reach out to touch or hold my wife, she isn't there."
Monjack says it was Murphy's mother who found the actress unresponsive Dec. 20 in the bathroom of their Hollywood hills home. She screamed for Monjack, who dialed 911.
"Sharon and I were holding each other," he recalls. "And they let us know at the same time that they — that she hadn't made it."
Says Sharon, "But we knew before that. It was just — you know, you felt her life go out of her."
Monjack — who has denied that Murphy suffered from prescription drug problems or an eating disorder (a cause of death has yet to be determined) — blames Hollywood for the actress' demise.
"You want to know what broke Brittany Murphy's heart?" he asks King. "Hollywood broke Brittany Murphy's heart."
