Smiling David Arquette Hits Awards Fest After Courteney Cox Split

Fresh off his just-announced separation from wife Courteney Cox, David Arquette made his first public appearance at Saturday's 2010 Spike TV Scream Awards, held at L.A.'s Greek Theatre.

Wearing a tan leather jacket and jeans, Arquette, 39, looked slim, relaxed and cheerful -- although he skipped the red carpet and avoided press interviews. The star was smiling and chatting animatedly with his publicist before heading into the event.

Arquette was on hand to help promote Scream 4 with cast mates Neve Campbell and Emma Roberts plus director Wes Craven. Noticeably absent: his on and offscreen wife Cox, 46. The pair met on the 1996 set of the very first Scream flick and tied the knot three years later.
The spouses -- parents to daughter Coco, 8 -- announced their trial separation earlier this week.

A source close to the couple tells the new Us Weekly that the pair "are by no means interested in giving up. They just need time apart."

If they are both dating other people, then I don't think it will just be a "trial seperation". They aren't working on their marriage they are looking for someone new. I see divorce coming within the 6 months. Sad to say but not surprising.
Oh good lord...they said that they've been separated for awhile, so now he's able to go out in public without this secret! I'm sorry they're spitting, but why is it such a shock? Seems like divorcing is what people (or one of them) do when they get "tired" of working on the marraige.
