Part of the family! Sofia Vergara is now a full-fledged U.S. citizen.

The Modern Family star, 42, recently passed her naturalization test with flying colors and dished to Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live! about the process on Wednesday evening, Dec. 3.

"They make you [jump through hoops] because they have to make sure that you deserve to be part of the country," she told Kimmel, 47. "The most interesting thing for me was, they give you like a hundred questions that you have to learn, and then they give you a quiz, like a test."

"You swear that you're going to fight for the United States… I'm ready!" she said. "They make you do the swear of the thing… It was easy because the swearing of the thing, you don't have to memorize or anything. You just repeat! I did it really fast so he didn't know if I was doing it right."

Vergara added that her high-profile career made citizenship a necessity. She's been starring in Modern Family since 2009, and previously appeared on shows like My Wife and Kids, Eve, and Entourage, and in movies such as Soul Plane, Four Brothers, and Lords of Dogtown.

"You thought I was here illegal?" Joe Manganiello's girlfriend joked to Kimmel. "I couldn't be illegal and be showing my face on national TV. I mean, I would have to be low-key."

So now he's getting really good at it. It was fantastic. I had a lot of family, my niece, friends that didn't have somewhere to go, and they came!"
