Sofia Vergara: I'm Not Ashamed to Say I Love Making Money
Sexy and smart! TV's highest-paid actress Sofia Vergara not only possesses good looks, but her business acumen shines through in a brand new interview published by Glam Belleza Latina magazine on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
Vergara, 41, flat out told the Spanish-speaking mag, "I’m not ashamed to say I love making money." A successful businesswoman herself, the Modern Family actress has multiple endorsement deals with high-profile brands like CoverGirl, Diet Pepsi and Comcast. The Colombian-born star also designs a popular clothing line for Kmart, and just last month, was announced as Head & Shoulders' new brand ambassador.
"I like business, and the truth is I save way more than I spend. I invest. I plan for the future," the sexy star told Glam. "I have a special eye for opportunities and work harder than anyone might expect. It is fun to shock people with my business ideas. Most people just see me as Gloria," she added of her character in the Emmy-winning comedy series.
"I think that the concept of being sexy and smart is difficult for many to grasp," she continued. While the idea of Vergara's business chops may come as a surprise for those who associate the star with her amusing, absent-minded character on the show, the actress revealed she uses this generalization to her advantage.
"Most people are more comfortable with the notion of 'sexy bimbo.' And I have to admit that I’ve capitalized on that to negotiate a couple of times," she explained of her business exchanges. "When the 'smart ones' think I have no idea what I can deliver," the actress shared, "I end up costing them more."
Nick Loeb's fiancee said she learned how to hustle after having son Manolo, now 22, in her teens. "I had a child to support," she explained of her savvy attitude starting from the early stages of her career. "Looking back now, I realize that although it was tough, it made me focus on working hard and not letting this business take the best of me," she confessed. "I was always motivated."
