When the clock struck midnight on January 1, Elin Woods wasn't just greeting the new, hopefully better year: she was celebrating her 30th birthday. For the post-Christmas week and beyond, the wife of embattled golfer Tiger Woods has surrounded herself with family and friends for a super-luxe ski getaway in France's Chamonix Valley, UsMagazine.com has learned.

And on New Year's Eve, Woods et al ventured from their five-star, $12,500-a-week chalet to a local restaurant for a festive meal.

For New Year's Day (and her birthday) Elin had a quiet, cozy day inside the luxurious chalet. Although the London Sun identified Elin skiiing in a Friday photograph, it was actually her sister Josefin (with her husband Daniel) who hit the slopes on Jan. 1, sources confirm to Us.

In happier times, Elin and her husband likely celebrated their birthdays together: Tiger, who has not been photographed since early November, turned 34 Dec. 30. On Friday, AT&T became the latest corporate sponsor to drop the golfer -- on a professional hiatus since he admitted his "infidelity" in early December.

If I were she, and planned on staying, that boy would be wearing a condom 24/7 while home. I think folks are sort of obnoxious for suggesting that she gave birth to two children just for the money. That's cold.
You know I always thought that Elin only married Tiger because of the money. I don't think she really loved him and at times I got the feeling that she was repulsed by him. The majority of women in her place would be devastated by what's happened. Elin seems ecstatic that she's free now. Another thing I've been wondering about. The neighbor who aided Tiger after the wreck said Tiger was snoring. This is PURE speculation, but I wonder if he was trying to kill himself?

I'm sorry to hear that you are so negative and hateful. Your life must be so sad, but I'm not going to write back and forth battling over who's right and who's wrong. You may be right that he's paying her to stay, but also keep in mind that she gets more money if she leaves him, so I find it hard for her to just stay around for a little money if she doesn't really love him. Get the story right: A source said "the couple may work things out." Big Deal! We knew all along she he might pay her to stay married to him longer. That marriage that "never was" cannot be worked out when her was cheating on her with so many women - all long term affairs. It's done. He's a dog! Her family must hate his guts. Tiger's in love with Rachel Uchtel. He could care less what Elin is doing. He probably thinks of his kids now and then but he hates Elin. Remember, she beat him. Rachel is his woman and when he fell in love that's what was the beginning of the end. He's just waiting to let some of this blow over and then he'll marry Rachel. This kinds smells like the Lionel Ritchie/Brenda Ritchie divorce.
