Surgeon of Kanye West's Mom Surrenders Medical License

Dr. Jan Adams -- the plastic surgeon who operated on Kanye West's mom before her 2007 death -- has surrendered his medical license.

Adams voluntarily turned in his license in California Wednesday following an investigation by the Medical Board stemming from two criminal convictions in DUI-related cases, Extra reports.

"The mission of the Medical Board is public protection, and this action reflects the Board's ongoing commitment to that mission," Barb Johnston, executive director of the medical board, says in a statement. Donda West died in November 2007 after undergoing tummy tuck and breast reduction procedures. An autopsy blamed heart disease coupled with complication from the surgery. In January, Adams was sentenced to a year in jail for drunken driving after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor DUI he'd received last June.
