What a way to go out — again and again! It’s been nearly 24 years to the day since Louise Sawyer drove her ’66 Thunderbird over a cliff, so, naturally, James Corden wanted to bring back the famous scene during The Late Late Show on Tuesday, May 12. The host and Susan Sarandon, who reprised her role from the 1991 classic Thelma & Louise, buckled up and had a blast when they introduced alternate endings for the grand finale.
Corden did his best impression of Thelma (Geena Davis) for the laugh-out-loud skit while sitting in the passenger seat. In the first take, he screams at Louise for taking his comments so literal.
“What the hell was that? Why did you just drop off the damn cliff!” Thelma says in a panic. “I said let’s keep going! It was a metaphor, Louise! A metaphor! Like keep going in life. You owe me an apology.”
As for the other sketches? Let’s just say the twosome walked away without a scratch, and another time a certain kiss left one person fleeing the car.
