Mitchell Guist, a star on The History Channel's reality show Swamp People, passed away Monday as a result of natural causes while working on a houseboat in Louisiana, local officials confirm.
Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack tells CNN that Guist -- who appeared on the series with his brother Glenn -- was building the boat when he suffered an apparent seizure. At the time of the accident, Guist was accompanied by an unidentified person who performed CPR. Guist later died at the Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City, La.
Final autopsy results are expected to be released in four to five weeks.
"Right now, we're thinking about him almost every minute," Swamp People's executive producer Brian Catalina said in a statement of his late colleague. "We've lost a really important part of our family and a treasured friend."
Currently in its third season, Swamp People follows locals who hunt alligators in Louisiana's Atchafalaya swamp.
