He’s on fire! Taylor Kinney is back to work on the set of Chicago Fire following his split from fiancée Lady Gaga.
Kinney’s costar Kara Killmer took to Twitter on Friday, July 22, to share a photo of herself, actress Miranda Rae Mayo and the hunky TV star, 35, getting ready to film scenes for the fifth season of the NBC drama.

“We’re baaaaack!!!,” Killmer, 28, captioned the photo, in which Kinney is smiling ear to ear. “#NBCChicagoFire #NBCUniversal #OneChicago #ChicagoFire #season5 #Chicago.”
While the single life appears to suit Kinney, it seems as though he and Gaga, 30, might rekindle their romance in the near future. Despite the couple’s decision to part ways after five years together — which Us Weekly confirmed on Tuesday, July 19 — the “Bad Romance” singer shared a message of hope for their relationship via Instagram on July 20.
“Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared,” she wrote alongside a black-and-white photo of the pair walking side by side. “Please root us on. We’re just like everybody else and we really love each other.”
As exclusively reported by Us on July 19, Kinney’s and Gaga’s busy work schedules contributed to their resolution to call it quits.
“It’s really sad and [Gaga’s] really torn up. They thought they’d be together forever. Distance was a big part of it,” an insider told Us. “They weren’t together a lot.”
While Kinney is stationed in Chicago because of his television gig, Gaga lives halfway across the country in Los Angeles.
“They had a good life and a lot in common, but were ultimately too different. I know he was always in Chicago and she went there all the time, but really had to be in L.A. or on tour, and it was hard for them to make their schedules work,” the source added. “Distance was definitely a big, big issue.”
The duo met on the set of the pop star’s music video for “Yoü and I” in 2011, when Kinney played Gaga’s love interest. Several months later, they began dating.
In February 2015, the Other Woman star asked the Grammy winner for her hand in marriage with a massive heart-shape diamond sparkler. “He gave me his heart on Valentine’s Day, and I said YES!” Gaga excitedly told her Little Monsters on social media at the time.
This would have been the first marriage for Kinney and Gaga.
