She’s a lover, not a fighter. Taylor Swift returned to Instagram on Friday, July 22, to wish her BFF Selena Gomez a happy birthday amid her ongoing feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.
“Going through old pictures today, because @selenagomez just turned 24!” the “Wildest Dreams” singer, 26, captioned the throwback photo of the two friends making one heart together with their hands. “I can’t imagine my life without you, Selena. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”
Swift has largely been lying low since she blasted West, 39, and Kardashian, 36, on Instagram on Monday, July 18, in a fiery message that she shared on the social media platform.
“Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me ‘that bitch’ in his song? It doesn’t exist because it never happened,” she wrote in the post. “You don’t get to control someone’s emotional response to being called ‘that bitch’ in front of the entire world. Of course I wanted to like the song. I wanted to believe Kanye when he told me that I would love the song. I wanted us to have a friendly relationship. He promised to play the song for me, but he never did.”
“While I wanted to be supportive of Kanye on the phone call, you cannot ‘approve’ a song you haven’t heard,” the pop superstar continued. “Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song it character assassination. I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I have never asked to be a part of, since 2009.”
Swift’s explosive response came after Kardashian released several snippets of a recorded phone conversation between her husband and the “Shake It Off” singer, in which Swift can be heard clearly telling West to “go with whatever line … [you think is] better.”
“I really appreciate you telling me about it, that’s really nice,” the singer says to the rapper. “Even asking or seeing if I’d be OK with it. I just really appreciate it. I would never have expected you to tell me about one of the lines in your song.”
Swift stepped out on her way to a gym in Los Angeles earlier in the day on Friday, July 22, wearing a black Nike jacket, print leggings and dark sunglasses. Her beau, Tom Hiddleston, was spotted heading to a separate gym that same day.
