Taylor Swift, Tom Hiddleston’s Australian Visit Causes TV Outlets to Go Nuts

Australian TV is having a moment. Some media outlets Down Under went completely nuts when Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston landed at Sydney Airport on Thursday, July 7. A few even offered viewers the option to watch a livestream of the couple from the comfort of their very own living rooms.

According to news.com.au, Today and Sunrise morning shows were the biggest fangirls of all. On Today, cameras for Swiftie lovers were lined up to catch the stars’ plane arriving on the runway.

But fans weren’t the only ones in a tizzy. Today reporter Jess Millward reportedly said “Tay-Tay” several times during the segment about Swift and Hiddleston’s arrival.

Sunrise was just as on top of its assignment. The production team was able to snag a few frames of the two walking through an airport hallway, which the show broadcast on repeat.

“We’ve got a bit of a match made in heaven here,” reporter Shaun White said of Swift, 26, and Hiddleston, 35. “It was about a two-meter walk, to be honest. It all happened so fast, it was like a ‘Love Story,’ one of her songs.”

Last year, Swift politely asked Australian media to give her space while she was in town for her 1989 world tour. “Aussie press, I love your enthusiasm but my birthday isn’t for 2 weeks and it’ll be a quiet one this year,” she tweeted in December. “Let’s take it down a notch.”

As previously reported, Swift and the Avengers star are in town while Hiddleston films Thor 3 with Chris Hemsworth. Earlier this week, the duo celebrated the 4th of July with famous pals at Swift’s Rhode Island home before briefly spending time in L.A.

Swift’s ex Calvin Harris, meanwhile, has been busy making headlines back in the States. The Scottish DJ, 32, dropped a new single with John Newman on Friday. Despite reports, the breakup track has nothing to do with the new couple.

“People are just making assumptions to get attention for a song,” a Swift source told Us Weekly, noting that it was recorded before Hiddleston was ever in the picture. “There’s no way it could be about Tom.”
