Taylor Swift’s Fans Are Furious With Kanye West’s ‘Famous’ Lyric: Read the Reactions

Better than revenge? Taylor Swift‘s fans (a.k.a. her “Swifties”) have her back following the release of Kanye West‘s new song “Famous,” which he debuted during his Yeezy 3 collection show in NYC on Thursday, February 11.

In the song, West raps some questionable things about the 1989 songstress. “I feel like me and Taylor might have sex,” he says. “I made that bitch famous.” (West responded to critics about the lyrics in a Twitter rant on Friday.)

Of course, West is referring to that infamous moment when he interrupted Swift, 26, during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. (To recall, Swift was accepting the Best Female Video award for “You Belong With Me” when West rushed the stage. He swiped the microphone and said that Beyoncé deserved to win for “one of the best videos of all time” for her hit “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).”)

Needless to say, West’s “bitch” lyric didn’t sit well with Swift’s inner circle on Thursday night. Her younger brother, Austin Swift, shared a video of him throwing out his Yeezy shoes. Selena Gomez in response liked the Instagram post. Actress Jaime King and model Gigi Hadid (who was at West’s show and is BFF with Kendall Jenner) also tweeted their support. Her rep also went on the record with Us Weekly and shared that Swift warned West against “misogynistic” lyrics.

Fans slammed West on social media, too. “Don’t ever ask me why I don’t respect Kanye. What he said about Taylor was just trash. You’re a great role model to your children bro,” one commenter wrote.

“It’s so weird that Taylor Swift managed to sell 7 million albums before Kanye ‘made her famous,'” a second noted. “How did that happen?”

As previously reported, West shared his entire track list off his new album, The Life of Pablo, at Madison Square Garden. More than 1,000 models — including Naomi Campbell — stood on stage as attendees looked on from the stands.

The Kardashian-Jenner clan also garnered attention in the crowd. Kim Kardashian (in a blonde wig!) was joined by Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian, Kris and Caitlyn Jenner, Kendall and Kylie Jenner and Saint West. As Us Weekly exclusively revealed on Wednesday, Lamar Odom made his first public appearance since his health scare at the event.
