Some topics are off-limits for comics -- just ask Rainn Wilson, who plays Dwight Schrute on NBC's The Office.

On Monday, the 46-year-old jokingly tweeted that "if I were ever date raped, I would want it to be to 'Whole Lotta Love' by Led Zeppelin."

The off-color remark was later deleted, with Wilson offering an apology Tuesday. "Apparently my poorly conceived date rape tweet upset a lot of folks," he wrote. "Not a good topic to joke about. Sorry and won't do that again."

Wilson recently began discussions with NBC to create a spinoff for his outlandish character on The Office.

"It could be really cool because It would be on his farm, which would be a bed and breakfast, and it would have a crazy menagerie of characters," Wilson told E! News. "It would be even more far out and weirder than The Office. It's a good idea."
