Tiger Woods Shouldn't "Grovel" in Apology, Star Jones Says

All eyes will be on Tiger Woods this Friday when he makes amends in a semi-public meeting at the TPC Sawgrass clubhouse in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
But one celebrity hopes the disgraced golfer doesn't go too far when he apologizes for his headline-grabbing indiscretions: Star Jones.

"Fine if Tiger does a public mea culpa for sponsors," Jones Tweeted Wednesday night. "but I hope he doesn't give up his mojo & grovel for the media..THAT would disappoint me," Jones writes.

"Remember. His behavior was deplorable...but he didn't kill anyone, sell drugs, possess weapons or beat up a woman...PERSPECTIVE."
As reported yesterday, Woods, 34, will be speaking to "a small group of friends, colleagues and close associates,"according to a statement. He will "discuss his past and his future and he intends to apologize for his behavior." The athlete was photographed on Wednesday for the first time since his scandal began, jogging near his Windermere, Fla. home.

Friday's much-anticipated event is "not a press conference," Woods' agent Mark Steinberg stressed.
In a longer email, Steinberg explained of Woods' decision: "While Tiger feels that what happened is fundamentally a matter between he and his wife, he also recognizes that he has hurt and let down a lot of other people who were close to him...He also let down his fans. He wants to begin the process of making amends and that's what he's going to discuss."

Not everyone in the golf world is applauding Woods' return from obscurity.
"It's selfish,'' golf champ Ernie Els told Golfweek magazine, charging that Woods will undermine the weekend's World Golf Champsionship. ''This takes a lot away from the golf tournament.''

Golfer Rory McIlroy, disagreed, telling the Associated Press: "He's got to come out at some point...I'm sick of hearing about it. And I'm just looking forward to when he's getting back on the golf course."

Star is not the person to give advice about ANYTHING! I think Tiger's actions in the future will speak volumes about his sincerity. I believe this is between him and his wife and family. His wife did not deserve this. It was sad to discover that here again was ANOTHER man that lost it all, because he could not keep his fly zipped! It tells me alot about his "drive" in life.

Everyone, media included is just mad because he (Tiger) is still pretty much in control of his situation. Yes he's a public figure but he owes us (the public) nothing!! If your child's role model is a golf pro that he or she has never met then that says alot about you as a parent, I want to be my kids role model, not some stranger!! I bet none of us are HIS kids role models!! The only person he owes anything to is his family!! Get a life America, we have way more important things to worry about, anybody heard anything about healthcare lately?? FOCUS!!!
Tiger is not the first famous person to make a public statement without taking questions from the media. The media is outraged because all they want is to continue making hash of Tiger and his family for profit. It is time that Tiger and his family move on with their life and for the media to get off their back!
I absolutely agree. Too often when Black men mess up they're expected to grovel and beg (ex. Isiah Washington),but not Kramer from Seinfeld. It is between Tiger & his wife. He needs to make a blanket apology & no more. His job is golf and what goes on between him & his wife from this point is strictly their business. He hasn't lost any money. Sponsors who dropped him really didn't. They were already considering how to get out of their contract because they're not making enough to justify what they have to pay him as their sponsor no matter what & this just became convenient. He is still a billionnaire and the best golfer & as soon as people with NO life and the media find someone else to dump on, they will forget about Tiger.

Tiger chose to be in the spotlight which requires a certain amount of accountability for his actions! a saying he's a man-should not excuse him! this was not a one night stand but several women whom he had affairs with for several years while married! This is WRONG on alot of levels! I do believe a marriage can survive a one night stand but what he did was much different~ and to say he's a man should not justify this kind of behavoir!! unfortunately being a celebrity does leave people to judge him for his imperfections and mistakea made in public! thats part of the game.. my heart does go out to his wife! personally he is a pathetic person in my eyes!
