Tyler Perry's Mother, Who Inspired Madea, Dies

Tyler Perry's mother -- a New Orleans preschool teacher who inspired his comic Madea character -- has died at the age of 64, the actor and producer announced on his website Tuesday.
"Willie Maxine Perry. February 12, 1945 to December 8, 2009. Thank you for all your prayers," he wrote.

The 40-year-old Perry -- who executive produced the critically acclaimed drama Precious -- recently recalled details of his troubled childhood, including how his mother tried and failed to leave his abusive father.

From what I've read Tyler was very close to his mama. Losing a parent is a life changing experience and my prayers go out to him and his family.

1st, my condolences to Mr.Perry. I lost my mom in December of 2006, and it is so hard to go through, especially during the holidays. 2nd, Rachel, when are you going to get off your broom you witch? A person has lost his mother, and you bring up something so pointless as sexuality. Nonsense.
