Weather Channel Blasts Breitbart for Denying Climate Change

It’s getting cold in here! The Weather Channel laid into the Breitbart News Network on Tuesday, December 6, igniting one of the weirdest feuds of the year.

During a live segment, which you can watch in the video above, meteorologist Kait Parker called out the website for using a Weather Channel video to deny climate change.

“Brietbart.com published an article claiming that global warming was nothing but a scare and global temperatures were actually falling. The problem is, they used a completely unrelated video about El Niño with my face in it to attempt to back their point,” Parker said. “What’s worse is that the U.S. Committee of Space, Science and Technology actually tweeted it out. Here’s the thing: Science doesn’t care about your opinion. Cherry-picking and twisting the facts will not change the future nor the fact.”

Weather.com slammed Breitbart in the same article. “Global warming is not expected to end anytime soon, despite what Breitbart.com wrote in an article published last week,” TWC stated. “The Breitbart article [is] a prime example of cherry-picking, or pulling a single item out of context to build a misleading case. … In fact, thousands of researchers and scientific societies are in agreement that greenhouse gases produced by human activity are warming the planet’s climate and will keep doing so.”

Weather.com added via Twitter: “Note to @BreitbartNews: Earth Is Not Cooling, Climate Change Is Real and Stop Using Our Video to Mislead Americans.”

Breitbart pushed back. The website retweeted the comment and replied: “They used time and resources to admonish an automated video embed.” In its article, Breitbart claimed that temperatures have “plummeted” by one degree Celsius because changes in the Pacific region “always have an immense impact on world weather.”

Last month, President-elect Donald Trump tapped Breitbart News executive chairman Stephen Bannon to be his chief strategist, which has enraged many. Breitbart has previously published controversial articles such as “Birth Control Makes Women Unattractive and Crazy,” “There’s No Bias Against Women in Tech, They Just Suck at Interviews” and “Gay Rights Have Made Us Dumber, It’s Time to Get Back in the Closet.”
