Wyclef Jean compares the dire situation in his native Haiti to an apocalypse.

"We spent the day picking up dead bodies, all day that's what we did. There's so much bodies in the streets that the morgues are filled up, the cemeteries are filled up," the singer, 37, told Fox News Friday from Port-Au-Prince, where bodies are still being dug out of rubble days after the earthquake struck.

Find out how to donate to Haiti

Jean has been trying to raise $1 million a day through his Yele Haiti organization. More than $5 million has already been donated through text messages, according to reports.

Jean is among the growing list of celebrities pitching in to raise funds to assist the Caribbean nation.

George Clooney is hosting a telethon on MTV next Friday, and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced Wednesday that they donated $1 million to relief efforts through Doctors Without Borders.
