Wyclef Jean compares the dire situation in his native Haiti to an apocalypse.
"We spent the day picking up dead bodies, all day that's what we did. There's so much bodies in the streets that the morgues are filled up, the cemeteries are filled up," the singer, 37, told Fox News Friday from Port-Au-Prince, where bodies are still being dug out of rubble days after the earthquake struck.

Jean has been trying to raise $1 million a day through his Yele Haiti organization. More than $5 million has already been donated through text messages, according to reports.
George Clooney is hosting a telethon on MTV next Friday, and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced Wednesday that they donated $1 million to relief efforts through Doctors Without Borders.

Tell Us What You Think
23It is really a shame you have procreated, BRE. Please stop.
I'm almost convinced to changing my mind about helping the people over there. As much as I want to help because I feel so bad about what happened to them and especially feel bad for the babies and children...It's just hard to help that kind of place considering the kind of place Haiti was. It's a bad, bad place! It has the #1 kindnap rate in the whole world! There was an estimated 1,000 rapes last year I think. Gangs walk around the streets with machetes and chop peoples heads off and the list goes on. I'm really confused with that place and if anyone should get help. Haiti has gotten aid for so long that it really hasn't changed anything over there. I wonder if things will finally change for the better over there.
Yes, some of the money donated will be mismanaged. The country is damaged, their government in ruins. But don't let that stop you from giving. Give, even if it's only $1. Find your humanity. Who cares what they have done for us. These are human beings who have lost so much.
I feel sorry for people like Bre and Chris. It must suck so bad to live in such a close minded world. Even more, I feel sorry for Bre's kid for having Bre as a mother. To M, I'm glad you realize that not everyone in the US has the same small mentality as Chris and Bre. Instead of blowing $20 on a DVD this weekend, I will send it to the beautiful people of Haiti. If I have more to give, it's yours. You're all in my prayers. I wish I could do more.
Wyclef probably didnt bother to rescue the fat people (if there are any in Haiti). I dont know much about this man, (other than being Brangelinas "token")...that said....I have no respect for this man because I once saw a video where he was mocking his fat fans, shaming them off the dance floor.....and BTW....lewt me save you the time....NO I'M NOT FAT! ....but I think that was a hateful and pompous thing to do.....how would he like to be discriminated against for being black?????
I say if you don't support the relief that's your opinion. Some people feel that we should focus more on our country, the needs of our children, the poverty level etc... and they are entitled to it. I feel we should help whomever we can. I think sometimes we do focus more attention elsewhere then we do in the US but those countries are a lot worse off then we are.
My heart goes out to those who have lost ones or are trapped among the devastation of the earthquake in Haiti. I don't understand why anyone would say that any articles about this tragedy is a waste of time...this country is among the poorest in the world and it costs nothing to have compassion for those who have lost anything as a result of this. If you don't want to donate, that's your choice.
Excuse me American Boi...what have they done to help themselves??? Centuries and still the same, waiting for handouts.
Right on Diane!!!
I agree with BRE 100%!!!!! And now they are "angry" the Aid isn't coming fast enough? PLEAAAAAAASE!
ok and my comment went to BRE..your world evolves around the united states have you ever been outside the US?.
You are just an A**hole if you dont want to donate or help just keep ur mouth Shut...
We didn't move that fast because that waste of a person George Bush was president and couldn't make a decision to save his life. I am Haitian and my people are suffering. If you don't want to help out fine, don't say that we don't get it because of a few stupid people that believe in pillaging and stealing. We are a country of happy and beautiful people regardless of all the suffering we go through. There are plenty of Haitians, both here and in America trying our hardest to fix our country so we can eliminate the stigma that people like Chris has. It is not a waste. Say what you want but we are not much different than America in the sense that the rich helps the rich and the poor are left to fend for themselves. Those are the ones that "don't get it" because they end up left in the cold (literally) every time. Bre, our "drug lords" are America's politicians. To those that do choose to help, whether it's $5, $100 or more, THANK YOU!! The Haitians may not be able to say it to you directly but I will for them.
Chris, Why is this a waste of time? And who are the people that you are referring to that won't get it? If I see a person in need of food, shelter and water, that does not sound like a waste of time to me.
Shut the hell up Bre before you have a d*** aneurysm.
Bre, wow! That's the biggest load of crap ever! What have they done for the US? Nothing. Because they are a poor country that lacks a formal government. The people of Haiti are in a horrible situation. They are completly helpless. I too have bills, children, and another on the way but somehow I'm able to send what I can. How about you put down your big mac and instead of eating that, you could send that $5 to the Red Cross who are trying to get water, medical supplies, and other goods to that counrty.Better yet, eat the Big Mac, I'll send the money for you. If you have food in your mouth it may shut you up for a while!
Look BRE don't try to sway the way people think with your ignorance, cause guess what b*tch it's their money and they'll give it to who ever they want. Angie and Brad have gone to Haiti and they know their money will help these poor people where there are children under buildings rocks and cement. If your child ever gets stuck under a giant building make sure you start yelling and telling people not to bother and come help cause you got it under control. Go hang out with Rush Limbaugh and listen to what other people have to say instead of looking and reading the news yourself. and as for CHRIS my friend was just sent to Haiti you as*hole and he's happy to help in the ARMY a true soldier not some idiot who joined the military because he had no other option and now complains for everything.
It is pointless to compare this situation to Katrina- everyone knows mistakes were made there and hopefully what we are witnessing reflects the learnings from that tragedy and should reassure Americans about how quickly our government could respond to another tragedy on our home soil. However, just being an American probably puts you in the top 5% of the world in terms of wealth and access to aid and resources. These people, who already had NOTHING, now have death and destruction all around them. If you send money to organizations like the Red Cross, trust that the money will be put to good use by people skilled to help in disaster relief to satisfy immediate needs like water, food, shelter, and medical care. The long term needs can't be addressed until these basic necessities are handled. Have compassion, be compassionate to all, American or not. Half the population of Haiti are children.
I WOULD MUCH RATHER HELP OUT SOMEONE IN THE U.S.!!! I DAM SURE DONT RECALL PPL MOVING THIS FAST WHEN KATRINA BLEW THRU! I AGREE WITH CHRIS! PLUS, THE COUNTRY IS RUN BY DRUG LORDS, WHAT YOU SEND WILL BE TAKEN AWAY! PLAIN AND SIMPLE! I WONDER HOW MUCH THEY HELPED OUT THE UNITED STATES? HUMM? I'LL TELL YOU - - NOTHING! AND THATS EXACTLY WHAT THEY'LL GET FROM ME! I HAVE AN ELECTRIC BILL TO PAY AND A CHILD TO SUPPORT.
What about Tiger? Oh now we dont talk about him, now that hes doing something good for the people of Haiti!!!
