Zac Efron Allegedly Punched in the Mouth by Transient in Downtown L.A.'s Skid Row
Of all the places to be stranded... Zac Efron found himself in a bit of a sketchy situation on Sunday, March 23, when he and his bodyguard had a run-in with someone in L.A.'s Skid Row neighborhood, TMZ reported Thursday, March 27. During the ensuing fight, the That Awkward Moment actor was allegedly punched in the mouth.
According to TMZ, Efron, 26, was sitting in a car with his bodyguard while waiting for a tow truck to arrive. At some point, the former High School Musical star reportedly threw a bottle out the window. It smashed near a group of homeless people, a few of whom confronted him.
Efron apparently told police that he was cold-cocked in the mouth when he got out of the car to assist his bodyguard. "It was the hardest I've ever been hit in my life," TMZ quotes the actor as saying. No one was arrested, however, because cops viewed it as "mutual combat," the site reports.
A spokesperson for the LAPD told Us Weekly that "officers were flagged down at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning for a stranded car. 911 was not called. No reports were taken, no ambulance was called, no police action was taken."
Efron recently recovered from a broken jaw, suffered as a result of a fall at his L.A. home. He's also coming off a secret 2013 stint in rehab. "I feel better than ever," the star told Us Weekly in January. I'm happier than ever. I've learned a lot over the last couple of years."
