Colin Firth, What a Girl Wants (2003)

Though he may still be best known for his brooding portrayal of Mr. Darcy in the BBC's 1995 Pride and Prejudice TV mini series, Colin Firth broke into Hollywood with a number of equally memorable (but more embarrassing) roles -- like as Amanda Bynes' father in 2003’s What a Girl Wants. But never fear, the British heartthrob would go on to return to his roots in serious fare, with 2010's critically acclaimed The King's Speech, which won him the Best Actor Oscar.
