Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown had a love story that was one for the books, involving drug use, domestic abuse and infidelity — take a look back at their tumultuous romance
Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown’s Relationship in His Words
The couple welcomed their daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, on March 4, 1993. She died at age 22 in July 2015, a little more than three years after her mother’s February 2012 death. In September 2015, Brown opened up to The Real about how Houston must have summoned their daughter. “[Whitney] was not comfortable by herself, I guess, and she just called my daughter with her.”
In an interview with Robin Roberts on 20/20 in June 2016, Brown admitted that he struck Houston once. “I did. Me at the time, trying to maintain a sobriety and the person that’s in your relationship is not going along with it — it was rough,” he said.
Houston filed for divorce from Brown in 2006, and the divorce was finalized in April 2007, with the singer receiving full custody of Bobbi Kristina. Asked about how he felt when he first heard the news of Houston's death, Brown told Us, “I really lost it then. I lost a friend, you know. The mother of my child. It just really hurt.”
