Always a class act!

Making her first appearance since announcing that she had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed, Angelina Jolie, with children Zahara, 10, and Shiloh, 8, by her side, stunned at the 2015 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in L.A. on Saturday, March 28.

For beauty, the Unbroken director, who took home the award for Favorite Villain (watch her daughters’ adorable reaction here!), kept things light and lovely, with a minimally made-up face. She left her brunette tresses long and loose.

As radiant as Jolie appeared, the true standout of the night was her speech, which stressed the importance of embracing uniqueness. “I want to say that when I was little, like Maleficent, I was told that I was different. I felt out of place and too loud—too full of fire, never good at sitting still, never good at fitting in,” she told the audience.

“And then one day I realized something, something I hope you all realize: different is good,” she said. “When someone tells you you are different, smile, hold your head up high, and be proud.”

The annual, slime-filled awards ceremony marked Jolie’s first appearance since she revealed her recent cancer scare and her choice to have surgery via an op-ed piece she penned for the New York Times. “I feel feminine, and grounded in the choices I am making for myself and my family. I know my children will never have to say, ‘Mom died of ovarian cancer,'” she wrote.
