No separation anxiety here! Bella Hadid and her sister Gigi Hadid have made quite the name for themselves in the fashion industry as model sisters to reckon with, but Bella wants to make sure that each sister has her own identity. In fact, that is just the reason why she dyes her naturally blonde hair.
“I just have a darker personality. And my sister being blonde and me being brunette, it’s a good separation,” Bella, 19, told Allure for the March 2016 issue. “I put a blonde wig on and think it would be fun to go back, but I’m happy with my hair. Blondes are so angelic. My sister can get away with anything.”
But the sisters’ hair isn’t their only difference. While Gigi famously freaked out over being chosen to walk in the 2015 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Bella says her sights have always been set on couture. “I know Chanel is just a show, and all the girls I was with, they’d been doing it forever,” she said of her walk in the pre–fall 2016 show in January. “[But] it’s been my dream ever since I was young.”
Bella, whose mom and dad are Yolanda Foster and Mohamed Hadid, also set herself apart by declaring, in October 2015, her intent to compete in the 2016 summer Olympics in Rio. “I have been riding since I could walk and the fact that my mom [Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Foster] knew everything about horses really helped my passion grow,” she told Porter magazine in their fall equestrian fashion spread.
Above all, Bella’s just being herself. “I’m not trying to be this cool girl,” she told Allure. “If you’re trying to be something you’re not, it’s slowly going to bite you in the butt.”
