Cate Blanchett knows how to make a statement on the red carpet and her message on Wednesday night seemed to be: I'm a "Star Wars" fan.

The 43-year-old Australian actress appeared to be inspired by Princess Leia minus the side buns at the U.K. premiere of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey." Her white, floor-length Givenchy gown featured a turtleneck top, fitted waist, and bell sleeves a la Carrie Fisher's famed ensemble. However, the edgy couture gown was over-the-top glam and subtly sexy. It featured a large cut-out on the back and a va-va-voom thigh slit to show off Blanchett's long legs. It also had gold cuff and shoulder accents.

But no side hair twists for Blanchett! The Academy Award-winning star, who plays royal elf Galadriel in the movie franchise, opted to style her blond locks in a loose bun.

Maybe it's because Tina Fey dressed as Princess Leia earlier this month for her "30 Rock" character Liz Lemon's wedding that we have "Star Wars" on the brain, but Blanchett definitely reminded us a bit of the iconic character last night. And if she's short on costume ideas when she takes her sons trick-or-treating next Halloween, she could certainly recycle this dress, pin up her hair, and the force would most certainly be with her.
