Damn, Daniel — you’re on to something!
Josh Holz and Daniel Lara broke the Internet with their series of Snapchats about Lara’s impeccable shoe game. Holz, 15, who’s particularly impressed by his 14-year-old friend’s white Vans ($45, vans.com), showed his admiration with a 30-second video that went viral after it posted on the social-media site.
The clip has already amassed more than 345,000 retweets and 7 million views on YouTube to date. Ellen DeGeneres even invited the duo to her show, where she gifted Lara with a lifetime supply of his signature slip-ons.
Who can blame him, though? White sneakers are just as much of a closet staple as a classic leather pump or a wear-with-everything bootie. Whether they’re canvas, leather, slip-ons or lace-ups, the neutral kick can be dressed up or dressed down in any season. And yes, maybe these stars weren’t specifically inspired by the “Damn, Daniel” video — but there’s no doubt that this trend has some serious staying power.
Cropped pants helped Olivia Culpo show off her leather fringe slip-ons ($675, tods.com).
If you wanna be like Victoria Beckham, you’ve got to invest in a pair of Stan Smiths. Adidas’ cool-girl staple ($80, adidas.com) comes in plenty of color ways.
Preppy makes perfect! Reese Witherspoon chose a pair of Pumas ($65, us.puma.com) that complemented her summery style.
Model behavior: Kendall Jenner and Miranda Kerr are fans of Kenneth Cole’s leather lace-ups ($120, kennethcole.com).
The force was with Kylie Jenner, who styled her mid-rise Nikes with a $3,765 Haider Ackermann bomber and a Chanel boy bag ($90, nike.com).
