Angelina Jolie surprised Hollywood Film Fest attendees by showing up Monday night to present Clint Eastwood with the Director of the Year award. "No one knew she was coming," a guest tells Usmagazine.com.
Jolie, 33, was spotted sans beau Brad Pitt. The actress slipped in the back door of a ballroom at the Beverly Hilton hotel, and only stayed to honor her Changeling director.
"There are some people in the business who are icons, and we often wonder if when we meet them, they will live up to what we imagined them to be," she said while presenting the award. "And Clint Eastwood in person is better." She continued: "Clint is what every great director should be. He is a great leader, and I certainly would follow him anywhere." Eastwood, 78, poured the praise on Jolie as well. "Working with someone like Angelina Jolie is a great privilege, because I get to look at that gorgeous beauty every day," he said. "But she's also a great talent." Jolie is currently living in a suburb of Berlin, Germany with her family while Pitt, 44, films Inglourious Basterds.
