So long, stick-thin models!
Although runways across the nation have been featuring curvier women for some time, this month's Fashion Weeks in Paris and Milan have finally welcomed models diverse in size and age.
Take a look at these curvy models!
"Designers are always talking about how they design for women, and then you look at our runways and there no girls over 20," Marc Jacobs told reporters backstage at his Louis Vuitton show in Paris on Wednesday. "This time, I set out to cast a variety of sexy women -- younger, older, thin, voluptuous, from every ethnic background."

Formerly seen as a fashion show faux pas, his lineup included Victoria's Secret models Adriana Lima -- who appeared on the runway for the first time since giving birth to her daughter in November -- and Alessandra Ambrosio, both 28. (Even 46-year-old Elle Macpherson strutted her stuff at the show.)

Fellow Victoria's Secret Angel Miranda Kerr, 26, walked the runway last month in Milan for Prada's fall show, which also put a new emphasis on curvy figures.

58Also, some people are giving the names of fat celebrities in order to prove what is really curvy. Puhlease. You CAN be thin and curvy at the same time. Curvy is not the same as fat so stop calling yourselves curvy when all you're is fat. Curvy refers to the frame you have...that you have an hour-glass figure. However, this article says, "so long stick-thin models!" That is where it gets so funny because these models are very very thin. Adriana is the biggest of them all, and she's still thin. This whole article doesn't make sense on many accounts because curvy is not the opposite of thin!
whoever wrote this article must be on crack. Ale and Miranda are abnormally thin, and this is coming from someone who is a size 0-2.
THESE WOMEN DO LOOK STICK THIN. BUT SERIOUSLY CURVES ARE A REAL WOMAN'S BODY. TAKE THE HINT AND EAT SOMETHING!!!!! SHEESH SHOW SOME WOMEN WITH REAL CURVES NOT STICK THIN BODIES AND BIG BOOBS!!!
i'm sorry, i've seen miranda, adriana, & alessandra...curvy? i think not. they just have boobs. they still have no meat on them!
These girls are HARDLY 'curvy'.
I WANT TO SEE JENNIFER HUDSON ON A PARISIAN RUNWAY ROCKING HER CURVES! SCARLETT JOHANSON! JESSICA BIEL! HALLE BERRY! PENELOPE CRUZ! THESE ARE REAL WOMEN W/CURVES! AS LONG AS I CONTINUE TO SEE UNHEALTHY WOMEN REPPING CERTAIN DESIGNERS ON THE RUNWAY, I WILL NOT BUY THEIR PROUDUCTS. THAT'S HOW YOU REALLY SEND A MESSAGE-HIT EM' IN THEIR POCKETS LADIES!
seriously, curvy is not attractive!
Hello..Miranda Kerr IS a stick thin model!
HELLO, these so called "curvy" girls are still pencil thin !! They are still super super thin. And believe me, I like em thin. These girls still look great. LOVE seeing them now included in the show. As long as they are still thin, bring back Naomi and all the others....except Tyra...now that is "curvy"...actually, i think Tyra is FAT. Beautiful...but, Large
I think it shouldn't be a "trend" i think it should be timelless and classy
"curvy this curvy that"... how about just fewer white female models?
But of course... the male models still have no fat over their abs right? The male models still have to diet in order to show their rips in their tummies. There wont be any chubby 39 year old white male models any time soon. Anyways.... if "fat" is so beautiful then why do we keep calling it "curvy" instead of fat? Just say "she's beautiful and fat". You shouldnt need Euphemisms for something that is "beautiful". Why is it ok for male models to be thin but not female models? Nevermind! don't even bother trying to explain that to me. I know what its really about. White females are eating like pigs and we've had to change the standard of beauty to "fat pig" so that white females can still be considered more beautiful than naturally thin asian females with long lifespans
Absolutly absurd. So now we're calling every woman who's not a size zero - curvy?? Um, no.
Seriously?!? These women are curvy and voluptuous compared to who? The size 00 model who is 16 and her body hasn't even finished maturing yet? As a result, these "girls" have no hips and no softness. They're very angular and so to us they look like skin and bones or worse, anorexic. Sadly, I'm sure some do starve themselves to achieve what the modeling industry asks of them, and that standard is what's used to compare these newly welcomed "curvy" models. In reality these women are still a size 00 as far as weight is concerned. The only difference is that some may wear a size 0 or (gasp!) a size 2, in order to accommodate a matured body. Again I say...seriously?!! The designers say they're designing for women, but the average woman wears a size 10-14. Voluptuous, curvy...seriously!?!!
Alessandra Ambrosio is NOT curvy that woman is a stick and ribs. Adriana is ... now that's a real woman!
It's about time!!!!
i dont really like em
(from a girl with 5 nations, a German passport, now living in Hawaii...): Trying to 'reach' a Parisian body is more or less IMPOSSIBLE. Most of the girls come with a size 0 - 4 bodybuilt, just naturally. Additionally one should know that Paris is 'unique' in its idea who it is... Forget American make-up, forget 'colours' - there's only one colour on and off stage in Paris which is 'noir'. Forget everything that you guys have over here... It is a different planet system over there... It is simply mean to 'compare' beautiful girls running the big VS-events with girls in Paris who are in advantage just because of their nation. It is like comparing a black woman with a girl from the Phillippines. She would have to 'cut off her bones' - to reach her size...
Finally! The fashion runways are off to a good start. They'll need to incorporate slightly larger models as well so the average american woman can identify with them & ultimately want to purchase the designer's clothing!
umm ... HMMM?? Where are the curves?? I didnt see any LOL... Im a size 2/4 and weight 120 ...and Im 5"6 but my waist to thigh ratio is 12 inches (34-24-36/37).... thats "curves".. those girls have a little baby fat and NONE of them are new.. they HAD to have them on the runways at VS because those are the original angels Hellooo.. Maybe theyre considered "curvy" to Parisians and if thats the case then I would be considered fat lol ... lets get some healthy real curvy models that are like a real size 4/6 (which is bigger than me but at least taller)
