Eva Longoria is an actress, a producer, a philanthropist — and, as of this summer, a clothing designer too!

The Telenovela actress, 41, is set to launch her first clothing line at The Limited on August 15. The capsule will be available at 250 stores across the U.S. and online.

Longoria revealed that the line has been a long time coming. “I learned to sew as a kid. All I wanted for Christmas was a Singer,” she told WWD. “At first, all I could sew was straight lines — curtains, pillows, duvets. That’s why I started my JCPenney home line. But if it had a sleeve or arm or leg, I was like, ‘No.'”

But a few years later, her tune changed. “When I was in high school, I would go to Jo-Ann Fabrics and get scrap fabric and patterns on sale to practice with. That’s how I learned to cut on the bias,” she explained.

That kind of dedication and knowledge is exactly what the company was looking for. “Because she’s a sewer, Eva is astute with aspects of fit; she knows what’s complementary to the body,” said Diane Ellis, CEO of The Limited. Plus, she added, The Limited’s clientele respond to the multi-hyphenate as a person. “We did some research on our client, who’s a sophisticated professional, and we were amazed at her response to how much she saw Eva as a strong woman activist who leads in all aspects,” Ellis said.

The recently engaged actress’ collection will include two of The Limited’s key categories — stretch denim and body-con dresses — plus peplum tops, dresses, jeggings and tees with Longoria-loved sayings like “#winegoals.” They’ll all be crafted from stronger fabrics, such as knits and bouclé, which will make the price point 15 to 25 percent higher than the core retail price of $49 to $160.

As a sneak peek, The Limited will debut three to four limited-edition dresses from the collection online starting on July 25, and will do so every week until the line officially launches in stores in August.
