‘Tis the season for tuxedos!

At least by Gwyneth Paltrow‘s standards! The Iron Man actress, 42, who spoke at the 2014 amfAR L.A. Inspiration Gala on Wednesday, Oct. 29, in Hollywood, stole the spotlight from the suited-up men that night in a sexy ladies’ tux.

As the event honored Tom Ford, Paltrow donned the designer’s plunging black jacket and matching slim-fit trousers for the occasion. To complete the bold look, the blonde beauty slicked back her long locks into a tight ponytail, and she added a red statement lip and Harry Winston diamonds.

“Gwyneth manages to bridge the gap of glamour and modernity,” designer Antonio Berardi, who’s created some of the actress’ most revealing red carpet looks (no panties at the Iron Man 3 premiere!), told Grazia magazine. “She makes things look iconic!”

And indeed, Paltrow’s tailored look, though different from her stunning red carpet dress collection, was instantly memorable—and very much on trend! Jennifer Lawrence, who had been linked to Paltrow’s “consciously uncoupled” ex, Chris Martin, until just this week, selected a tuxedo-inspired coatdress by Dior for her Serena premiere in London on Oct. 13.

While Paltrow chose to keep her ensemble sexily tomboyish, The Hunger Games’ leading lady, 24, took a more delicate approach to her outfit, adding black pumps and pearl earrings on the fashion front, as well as a rose-hued lip and tousled waves for beauty.
