Missing your Lizzie McGuire days, Hil?
Hilary Duff has been spotted out and about in Los Angeles these past two weeks, working the plaids, sweats, and tousled hair from the decade of her youth: the ’90s.
Duff, 27, whose new TV Land show, Younger, is set to premiere on March 31, has clearly embraced the grunge street style trend, rocking two plaids in one day alone on Tuesday, March 3. (She wore a gray tartan first to yoga class, then switched to a red print for a hiking adventure with her 2-year-old son, Luca.)
Just the day before that, the former Disney star, who has also been busy creating new music, was seen leaving La Conversation restaurant in West Hollywood clad in a shearling denim jacket and a white T-shirt, with a white plaid shirt wrapped around her waist.
But it was two weeks before, on Feb. 20 (the same day she filed for divorce from Mike Comrie), when Duff first resurfaced her beloved ’90s style, which she’s dabbled in on and off for years, in earnest. That day, she teamed a slouchy tee, black-sleeved varsity-style jacket, high-top sneaks, and, yes, one more flannel—a black and white mix.
To top it all off, Duff has been styling her blonde tresses into bedhead waves, the kind of perfectly tousled locks that were preferred during the decade.
Maybe the cozy style switch is all about the actress’ commitment to the things that make her smile. Speaking on love and life to Cosmopolitan, Duff said, “I just always want to fight for happiness.”
