Girl power! On Thursday, February 4, Jeremy Scott unveiled his latest pop culture–inspired collection, and it stars none other than ’90s cartoon badasses, the Powerpuff Girls.

“I love that they are something familiar from the past, and I love the way they were drawn,” Scott exclusively told Us Weekly at the launch inside West Hollywood’s Moschino boutique. “They’re upbeat and fun, and they have that girl-power feeling.”

But while Moschino’s creative director has a knack for including beloved characters, such as Barbie and SpongeBob SquarePants, into his threads, he had no clue what an impact this collection would have. “[People are] just so excited about it. I didn’t know that it meant so much to so many — especially a lot of girls,” Scott, whose 18-piece capsule is now available online and in stores, confessed. “I was really excited that it resonated so strongly. It made me happy.”

The dresses, sweaters, accessories and swimsuits, which range from $80 to $1,250, are bright and colorful, just like the Girls — pink-loving leader Blossom, blue sweetie Bubbles and feisty gal-in-green ButterCup. And they arrive just in time for the series’ relaunch on Cartoon Network this spring.

As for the Girl he relates to most? “Bubbles,” Scott shared. “I’m always upbeat and positive and like, ‘It’s going to be fine!'”

Indeed, Scott has a reputation for being the life of the party, attracting a devoted celeb fan base that includes Katy Perry, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus. But there’s one star who holds a special place in his heart. “The first person I dressed was Björk back in 1998 or 1999, [and it was really important to me]. She was my first concert,” he told Us. “So, sorry to [the other] ladies, but I already felt [like I made it] because I was like, OK, Björk called me up and asked me to do her tour costume. It became the thing she wore for a year!”

Since then, he has created countless memorable style moments, including Perry’s and his matching graffiti outfits for the 2014 Met Gala. But there’s still one more person he’d love to create a look for. “The one person I love who I’ve never dressed is ‘Aunt Dolly,’ as Miley likes to call [Dolly Parton],” Scott said. “She’s one of my favorites. [Until I get the call], I’m just happy admiring her from afar.”
