You don't see Katie Holmes in a dress like this too often!
The actress, 36, who is currently filming All We Had in NYC, really took a departure from her typical laid-back street style while on set on Tuesday, Aug. 11. Holmes slipped her petite frame into a very form-fitting strapless jean dress befitting the '80s.
This tiny acid-washed denim number, available at Topshop.com for $85 for all you retro-fashion lovers, let the actress’ long limbs take center stage and barely covered Holmes' butt. In fact, the Dawson's Creek alum flashed her backside in the micro mini while bending over.
Though the style is very uncharacteristic for the mom to Suri Cruise, 9, it is just the latest bold style move the actress has made for the role. Holmes, who plays a mother struggling with her 13-year-old daughter through poverty, snipped her signature long locks in favor of a curly lob.
The film—an adaptation of Annie Weatherwax’s novel of the same name—also marks Holmes' directorial debut. "Katie has such a clear vision for the book's irreverent, original mother-daughter relationship," the movie’s producer, Jane Rosenthal said in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter last September.
