Katy Perry Wears Glow-in-the-Dark Gown

Katy Perry lit up the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute gala Monday in NYC -- literally.
Sans fiance Russell Brand, the "Hot N Cold" singer, 25, stepped out in a glow-in-the-dark gown (LED lights were built into the dress from shoulder to hem).

"I love it! I think it's so much fun!" she told UsMagazine.com. "I feel like I have to wear something to represent women who do their own thing and have spontaneity!"
How did she get her dress to light up?
"I have this thing in my bra!" she told Us with a laugh. "I don't know if that's a good place for it or not!"

She said wasn't worried about any wardrobe malfunctions. "I’ll be all right!" she told Us.
Despite her unique look for the night, she said there's still one star she'll never be able to beat in the style department.

The dress is doing exactly as intended. It's creating controversy. There is nothing wrong with doing something or being something different as long as it doesn't harm anyone. It took years for Katy to become an overnight sensation with a lot of struggling. She made it because of a clever, catchy song that got heard. Stop being jealous of success by someone who paid their dues.
O god I love Katy but this dress is beneath her, she is way better than this...her makeup looks great though!

This girl is nuts, but in a good way. Perfect match for Rusty. But, she really isn't pretty, more like a homely girl with lots of makeup. Her dress sense is wacky, but she likes it that way. She's a character, not talented in my opinion, but a character.
This is not a glow in the dark dress...it is a led light up dress. It it needs a battery pack in the bra to work it isn't glowing on it's own. U.S. Weekly...even my 4 year old son realized that "that dress is not glowing mommy"

DEB, if Katy wore a garbage bag you would say she looks awesome. She is a very pretty lady, hands down. The dress was awful, and she can't sing. There is nothing wrong with being honest. Stop kissing a**.
This girl is WAY overrated. I don't like her music or her ridiculous "fashion" sense. I truly don't see why she's famous, other than the fact that she sang about kissing a girl. Big deal.

Memo to Us Magazine. Glow-in-the-dark means it glows, in the dark, not that it has built-in electronic lighting. If you aren't comfortable reporting on fashion, don't. But if you're going to, please get it right.
