Real recognizes real! After Leslie Jones tweeted that no designer would dress her for the upcoming Ghostbusters premiere, Christian Siriano tweeted back that he’d be more than happy to, and they now hard at work on her look.

The SNL star, 48, and the Project Runway alum, 30, met Thursday, June 30, two days after their initial Twitter exchange. They both took to Instagram and Twitter to document their initial meeting inside Siriano’s dreamy Manhattan-based atelier. The designer joked via Instagram that they were, “Up to no good.”

“I love Leslie and I’m a huge fan of her work,” Siriano said in a statement before they met. “I can’t wait to create something special for her to wear. Hopefully I will see her in my studio this week to make something new and exciting. I support all women no matter age or size!”

Jones applauded the designer for his willingness to work with her. “It takes a real designer to design for a real woman,” she told Us Weekly.

Once Siriano was on board, Hearts On Fire contacted the star for her jewelry needs. “It was an easy decision for us to reach out to Leslie and offer to help her with jewelry for her premiere,” Angie Kielt, a rep for the brand, told Us. “When we saw that she was having trouble with designers refusing to dress her, we immediately wanted to reach out and help — as we are a brand that is proud to support all women.”

Kielt continued with a call to action for the rest of the fashion industry. “We love Leslie and her work, and would be honored to dress her,” she said. “It’s so disappointing that many brands or designers would not want to do the same, and we hope that this situation helps bring about changes in the industry for the future.”

While many social commenters commended Jones for putting the designers who rebuffed her on blast, stylist Jessica Paster (who works with Emily Blunt) blamed the comedienne for what she suspects was a matter of waiting too long to ask. “This is nobody’s fault except Leslie’s,” Paster told The Hollywood Reporter. “She should have known four to five months ago the date of premiere and said, ‘I’m not a sample size, I need to go to designers early or buy myself a dress.’ Don’t be blaming designers and saying they don’t like you.”

The debate began when Jones tweeted June 28, “It’s so funny how there are no designers wanting to help me with a premiere dress for movie. Hmmm that will change and I remember everything.”

Siriano then volunteered and was cheered for it. But he stated in a tweet, “It shouldn’t be exceptional to work with brilliant people just because they’re not sample size. Congrats aren’t in order, a change is.”
