Changing it up! Liv Tyler’s style has come a long way since her Empire Records–era plaid miniskirts and cropped sweaters from the '90s. These days, the Leftovers star, who gave birth to daughter Lula on Friday, June 8, lets motherhood dictate the way she dresses.

“Having just had a baby, I want more wearable shapes, so a slim pant with the ankle showing and a flat shoe are top of mind,” the mom of Sailor, 17 months, and Milo, 11, told Glamour. “I’ll wear those with jackets and a blouse or men's shirt. I’m happiest at home with my baby in my arms wearing a great pair of pajamas — but that's what's working for me right now!”

Aside from doting on Lula, Tyler’s got another baby: her first clothing collection with British brand Belstaff, which launched on Tuesday, August 2. “I wanted to create my essentials. They're pieces that every woman would enjoy having in her wardrobe and can wear season after season,” she noted. “My favorites are the military coat, the cashmere knee-length coat, and the green winter puffer coat. I love a jacket that looks like it could be yours or your boyfriend’s.”

Tyler’s always had a strong sense of style. It’s “growing as I mature, but I’ve always been most drawn to classic looks, not a trend or what’s in fashion in that moment,” Tyler, who’s the daughter of Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, continued. “I’m secretly a bit of a tomboy, and I love to mix something very feminine with something strong, practical, and masculine.”

For her fellow mothers who are still finding their footing with fashion, Tyler, who’s engaged to David Gardner, suggests finding the right fit. “I know what works for me and my body, and I try to stick to that,” she noted. “I favor simple shapes and designs—things that are practical and functional but have a touch of elegance. I want to be able to throw a look together quickly while feeling and looking my best!”
