Look familiar? Kim Kardashian attended the Monday, May 4 Met Gala in New York City on the arm of husband Kanye West, and the reality star's dress was the talk of the red carpet. Not only did Kardashian, 34, wear Peter Dundas' first gown for Roberto Cavalli, but the star's dramatic beaded floor-length dress with a feathered train reminded Us Weekly of another showstopping gown: Beyonce's from 2012.
Slicking her hair back into a low ponytail, North West's mom ascended the steps of NYC's Metropolitan Museum of Art and paused for photographs with the same over-the-shoulder glance that Bey gave in her backless Givenchy gown three years earlier.
However, as iconic as Bey is, Kardashian confirmed that it was none other than Cher who inspired her 2015 ensemble. Posting an Instagram pic Monday night, the reality star gushed over Cher's sheer Bob Mackie gown from 1974's very first Met Gala.
"I just met her and told her [she was] was my inspiration for my dress tonight! She is so beautiful! So happy I met her! We spoke about our amazing Armenian journeys," Kardashian wrote after their run-in.
Kardashian's muse wore Marc Jacobs for the 2015 event, and attended on the arm of the designer himself. Jacobs custom-made a burgundy and blue sequined v-neck gown for the singer, 68.
Monday's gala was a family affair for Kardashian and West, who were joined on the red carpet by Kendall Jenner and Kris Jenner. Dressed to the nines in support of the evening's festivities — which carried the theme "China Through the Looking Glass" — Kendall, 19, stunned in a custom jade Calvin Klein number with crystals and sexy side cutouts that exposed lots of sideboob. For her part, the Jenner family matriarch, 59, wore an '80s-inspired red draped gown paired with gold heels and fringed lantern earrings.
