Looking on the bright side! Michelle Obama was like a ray of sunshine for a tour of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, August 2. FLOTUS’ yellow dress was perfect for the busy day, as she hosted Mrs. Lee Hsien Loong, the wife of Singapore’s prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong, in the nation’s capital.

Mrs. Obama, 52, wore a sunny Naeem Khan midi dress covered in laser-cut floral appliqués. The piece was decked out in a high halter neck and a matching ribbon belt. While she kept her shoe choices subdued (a nude pair of sandals to greet her guests and gold flats for the museum visit), she went bold with her accessories, pairing her bright outfit with light green drop earrings.

Even though the first lady had official White House business, she still found time to look out for her husband, President Barack Obama. As they waited for the prime minister and his wife, Michelle wiped an unidentifiable object off of the president’s nose.

The first lady’s sunny look wasn’t her only yellow moment of the year. For January’s State of the Union address, she stunned in a marigold wool Narciso Rodriguez sleeveless banded-bodice midi dress. Once the web’s eagle-eyed fashionistas got word of the designer credits for Michelle’s State of the Union look, the piece sold out within minutes, according to Fashionista.

She also made a statement with her Democratic National Convention wardrobe choice on Monday, July 25. To deliver an inspirational speech supporting Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, Michelle killed it in a stylish Christian Siriano design. Her patriotic blue dress featured cap sleeves, an A-line silhouette and a full skirt.

“It is an incredible honor to have such an amazing woman wear one of my creations,” Siriano, 30, said in a statement on Tuesday, July 26. “I am in such awe.”
