Natalie Portman hit the red carpet at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival premiere of her directorial debut, A Tale of Love and Darkness, on Thursday, Sept. 10, and the Oscar-winning beauty could not have looked more stunning!
Making her first major appearance since Cannes in May—and thus, our Friday that much prettier—Portman, 34, shimmered in a champagne-hued lace dress by Lanvin, topped with a bedazzled star brooch. A box clutch, strappy Bally sandals, and Tiffany & Co. baubles completed the gorgeous style.
But the beauty didn’t stop there! Portman, who shares son Aleph, 4, with her husband, dancer Benjamin Millepied, chose a slicked-back low ponytail, blushed cheeks, and a berry statement lip, adding even more romance.
The Jerusalem-born actress appeared thrilled to share her film, an adaptation, which she wrote herself, of Israeli author Amos Oz‘s autobiography of the same name. “The power of words is at the center of Judaism, and the creating of a people through storytelling,” Portman, who played Oz’s mentally ill mother in the movie, told Harper’s Bazaar inside its August issue. “I wanted to show the birth of this writer as he relates to his mother.”
Adding more about her Israeli background, the actress shared, “When you say, ‘I’m for Israel,’ everyone wants to have a 10-hour political conversation. Everyone has a very strong, passionate opinion about it. But I’m grateful for it. I had so many friends who asked when we were younger, ‘Who am I? What’s my identity?’ I never questioned my identity.”
