Nicole Richie, 28, blogged about a goofy pic of herself posing with her mom Brenda Richie at age 8.
"Really Mom? REALLY?" she writes of the shot, which features the two in matching salmon-colored lace getups and feathered hair.

She lists the problems with her look: 1. My eyebrows, 2. Matching outfits, 3. My afro and 4. The 1989 "serious face."
Richie is promoting her Winter Kate line in Chicago Friday afternoon, but she recently told UsMagazine.com that she doesn't have any style icons.
"I really admire anyone who is their own person and doesn't really follow trends," she said. "When I was little, I would always watch my mom get ready and think that she had the best wardrobe."

Daughter Harlow, 2, will one day inherit some of Richie's duds, she says. (No word if they've taken glamour shots together, though.)

I seriously doubt she "hates anything that's black about herself" just because she is making fun of her huge hair...
It's obvious that Nicole hates anything that's black about herself. If she did indeed have an afro in that picture--so what. Who would call that hairstyle an afro? Farrah had fluffier hair with her feathered cut.
Who cares what race Nicole is and whether or not she was adopted or not?!? The woman that Nicole is pictured with is the woman that raised her and is therefore, her mother. The picture of the two of them is pretty comical and adorable. Gotta love the 80s....

Too funny! Nicole has never claimed to be white. Like others have said, she was adopted and she is multi-racial--black, white and hispanic. I'm really glad she straightened out her life.
Her biological father is Pete Escovedo, who is Sheila E.'s brother, which makes her part Hispanic and part African American.
Nicole is half black and half white for anyone that is confused. Her father was in the Commodores with Lionel Richi. He ended up dying though and asked Lionel to take care of Nicole and that's how he adopted her.
As an adoptive mother the two of them dressed alike may have played a significant role in her adoptive mothers mind as a bonding as one..as far as the afro statement!?!?...Halle Berry is nothing but HOTTTTT when she is rockin one....I think your mother is sooo beautiful...your very lucky to have one that cared and took the time....must have been nice to have someone make you feel so special ...
What nationality is she? You'd never know she wasn't a little African American girl in this picture.
this is so cute ..mom and daughter pictures always embarrass us until we are old enough to realize how important that time was. usually when we have our own daughters. Love Nicole Ritchie she has grown into a wonderful young women proud to have watched her progress.
