Ultimate de la Renta champion Sarah Jessica Parker told Us Weekly in a statement that it was a “privilege” to wear the icon’s designs “for so many occasions over the last 15 years.” Most recently, the Sex and the City star and de la Renta collaborated together this past year on the 2014 Met Gala. “He allowed me to honor him by embroidering his name in Scarlett on the hem of his glorious dress,” Parker added in her statement to Us. “He was an inspiration and a man like no other.”

After the Met Gala, de la Renta’s most notable creation was a lace wedding gown for George Clooney‘s bride, Amal Alamuddin. The two tied the knot in a lavish and star-studded ceremony in Venice in late September, several weeks before de la Renta’s death.
