It's been a while since Renee Zellweger last hit the red carpet, but she made an appearance on Monday, March 10, at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, Calif., to promote a worthy cause. The Oscar winner was joined at the star-studded event by Annette Bening, Josh Groban, and Kathy Griffin, all there to support The Painted Turtle, which is a camp cofounded by Paul Newman in 1999 for kids with life-threatening or chronic medical conditions. Zellweger's night out was the first red carpet appearance for the 44-year-old star since last November, when she stepped out for Burbank screening of Long Shot: The Kevin Laue Story. The Bridget Jones star looked svelte in a fitted, three-quarter-sleeve black dress, which she accessorized with pearls and a messy undo. Zellweger wore very little makeup but her skin looked radiant on the red carpet.

Glee star (and DWTS season 17 winner!) Amber Riley performed onstage at the event and gushed about it on Twitter: "Honored 2b a small part in helping raise money for The Painted Turtle! Those kids brought me so much joy unite," she wrote. "Can't even explain it!"

Riley also shared her excitement of meeting Zellweger. "Renée Zellweger is probably my new favorite person in life," the singing sensation said.

Zellweger has not starred in a movie since 2010's My Own Love Song. During her hiatus, the star co-created and produced a drama show called Cinnamon Girl, but it was ultimately overlooked by networks.
