What would Yeezy say?
On March 17, NikeLab announced NikeLab X RT: Training Redefined, a new collection designed by Riccardo Tisci and inspired by athletes training for this summer's Rio Olympic Games. The Italian fashion designer, who’s the force behind Givenchy, will create performance pieces for both men and women.
“We achieved something that's amazing,” Tisci, who designed Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding outfits in 2014, said in a press release. “There's a lot of sensuality.”
While consumers have to wait until July to get their hands on the hoodies and leggings, the 41-year-old luminary gave his 1.2 million Instagram followers a sneak peek of the goods.
The two capsule collections feature “a signature Tisci black and white color palette” along with "prints of flowers from Oregon, the home of Nike; Taranto, Italy, the home of Tisci; and Rio de Janeiro, the home of the summer’s biggest sporting event,” as described in the Nike press release.
Tisci's news arrived the day after HyperAdapt 1.0, Nike's self-lacing sneakers similar to ones seen in 1989's Back to the Future: Part II, were announced.
Tisci’s no stranger to the Nike family. He unveiled the Nike x RT AF1 Hi Boot in 2014, and the Riccardo Tisci x NikeLab Dunk Lux Hi this February. And while he may have had athletes in mind while designing, he is bound to have plenty of support from his celebrity fans and friends, too.
Earlier this year, Beyoncé, who tapped Tisci to design her ultrasexy 2015 Met Ball gown, gave him ultimate props in her single “Formation”: “I’m so reckless when I rock my Givenchy dress.”
